How do I volunteer for the Tour de Greenbelt?


Please fill out the Volunteer registration form and send the completed form by e-mail at info@tourdegreenbelt.ca or regular mail at 68 Scollard St. Suite 201, Toronto, ON, M5R 1G2 or fax at 416-960-0030 

Volunteers receive:

  • A Free organic cotton t-shirt
  • Breakfast and lunch at the event
  • Transportation to the event
  • Discounts of Tour registration fees
  • A chance to meet new people and have a great time!

What is the Tour de Greenbelt?

The Tour is a fresh air festival on wheels: an active, healthy, and educational family-oriented bike adventure through Ontario's Greenbelt. It is a leisurely "stop and smell the Greenbelt" ride with activities before, during and after the ride.

When is the Tour de Greenbelt?

There will be four (4) separate days of excitement this Fall.

When and where is it happening?

  • Saturday, September 11 - St. Catharines-Niagara
  • Sunday, September 12 - St. Catharines-Niagara
  • Saturday, September 25 - Newmarket-York
  • Sunday, September 26 - Uxbridge- Durham

What will I experience?

A bike ride through the countryside to visit farms, explore natural beauty, parks and enjoy fresh, local food. The "all-inclusive" Greenbelt bike ride as well as special activities for kids!

How do I register for the Tour de Greenbelt?

Three (3) options for registration are available:

1) Register on-line at

3) Print off a Registration Form on this site or pick one up at MEC and mail it Credit card information or with a cheque payable to:

What methods of payment do you accept?

Visa, MasterCard, Cash and cheque

On-line: Credit card payments are accepted through our on-line registration.

Mail-in: Cheques or credit card information with registration cards or formsshould be mailed and made payable to: Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation (see address above)

Aeroplan: Aeroplan points accepted through www.aeroplan.ca

How much does the event cost?

Pre-registration for the Tour is $45/person/day +HST
Day-of registration for the Tour is $50/person/day +HST
Children 12 and under are FREE, but must be accompanied by an adult. The Tour allows up to two (2) children per adult.
Registration for all four (4) days is $160+HST.

What is included in my fee?

Included in the $45 registration fee is:

  • Tour de Greenbelt rider kit packed with sponsor goodies
  • Tour de Greenbelt rider guide, includes map and directions for each day (route)
  • Snacks and beverages prior to the ride and at rest stations
  • Visits and tours offered at rest stations
  • On route technical and medical support as needed
  • BBQ lunch featuring local food at the end of each ride
  • Live entertainment at the end of the ride
  • Childrends activities

What is the distance for each day of the Tour de Greenbelt?

To accommodate all skill levels of riders, each day will have three (3) different lengths to choose from a Family ride (choose your length1-10k), aMeander (20-30k) or a Long haul (40-55k) . Please choose your distance for each ride on the registration forms.

What if I can't finish the ride?

We do offer a "sag-wagon" or bus service to pick up anyone and their bike that cannot finish the ride. This is included in the registration fee.

Is the Tour on a road or trail?

All routes will take place on fully paved roads and developed with ease, enjoyment and accessibility in mind.
Some of the short family routes may be on gravel or dirt paths.

Is it safe to ride on the roads?

Yes. All normal rules of the road apply, as the Tour de Greenbelt is not a closed route. The routes will be marshaled by volunteers and regional Police. Medical and mechanical staff will also be placed along each Tour route.

Do I have to wear a bike helmet?

Yes, the Tour de Greenbelt asks all participants to comply with the normal rules of the road and our mandatory helmet policy.

How do I get a Promotion Code?

We are offering discounts through promotion codes for the 2010 Tour de Greenbelt. Past riders, subcribers to our mailings list, facebook fans and others will be offered promotion codes. Join our lists to get yours.

What happens if it rains the day(s) of the events?

The route should not be affected and the event will take place rain or shine. If it does happen to rain, we encourage everyone to use caution on the routes and come prepared for the weather. Should the weather be extreme and make the routes too dangerous to ride, the event may be delayed until such time that it is safer or cancelled if it does not improve.

How do I get to each day of the Tour if I don't have a car?

We have set up shuttle buses to run from the Mountain Equipment Co-Op in Toronto and Burlington. The shuttle will transport you and your bike to and from each ride. MEC Shuttle service will cost $15/person per day (route). Sign up for the shuttle when you register.

*Registration for the shuttle will close at 4pm the Wednesday before each weekend (September 7th and September 21st)

Are there any additional costs?

There are no additional costs to participate in the event. We have some Tour de Greenbelt promotional gear available for purchase

* Tour de Greenbelt limited edition Cycling jersey ($70+HST)

Where does our registration fee go?

Registration funds go exclusively towards paying for the costs associated with the event; this is a revenue-neutral event.

Can I use the Bike Train to get to the Tour de Greenbelt?

Yes, one way to find transportation from Toronto to St. Catharines is to take the Bike Train.  The Greenbelt Express Toronto Niagara route departs from Toronto Union Station.  With space for a limited number of cyclists to disembark in St. Catharines, book early.  Or enjoy the entire weekend in the Niagara Greenbelt by using the Niagara Falls station as the starting point for your adventure to hook up with Day 1 or 2 of the Tour de Greenbelt.  For more information & to book tickets visit www.biketrain.ca or call 1-866-333-4491.
