NEW IN 2012, YOU CAN HIKE, RUN OR RIDE THE TOUR DE GREENBELT

Saturday, September 15 - Rouge Park
Start/End - Toronto Zoo parking lot 3 across from Rouge Valley Conservation Centre 1749 Meadowvale Road

When you arrive you will check in, receive your very participants kit, enjoy coffee and snacks provided, and get ready to ride, walk or run. Along the cycling and run routes there will be marshals to guide the way, police and EMS on site, and bike repair services. The hiking routes will be fully guided by experienced hike leaders. Throughout the designated rest stops, participants will learn learn all about what the Greenbelt's Rouge Park has to offer, visit farms, woodlands, wetlands, and local attractions. If you need to, a support vehicle will pick up any participants who cannot finish on their own.

At the end of the ride your hike, run, or ride you are invited to join us for a freshly prepared lunch using foods grown right inside Ontario's Greenbelt. It's a chance to have some fun, mingle with the other participants and relax a little after a great day in Rouge Park.

SCHEDULE

7:30 am - Shuttle departs from MEC Toronto 400 King St. West
8:00 am - Registration opens, coffee and refreshments will be offered
8:45 am - Warm-up and announcements
9:00 am - Canadian Century cycling route ride begin (100k)
9:15 am - Major Meander route ride begins (60k)
9:30 am - Mini Meander ride begins (35k)
9:45 am - Hikers begin
10:00 am - Short family ride and Run begins (12k) - this ride is police escorted
12:00 pm - 3:30 pm - Post ride BBQ and activities begin including live entertainment
3:30 pm - Event ends, last busses depart

TOUR ROUTES

Hiking Routes - Hiking Route Map

Depending on registration, hikes will depart from the main site at various times with a guide, or hikers can do the routes on their own with the support of guides at various points.
The hiking trails for Tour de Greenbelt will be as follows:

  • Cedar Trail Upper Route - An accessible friendly route with a distance of 3km
  • Vista and Orchard Trials - This is a 5km hike
  • Vista, Orchard and Cedar Trails - This is a 10km route

Rouge Park offers hiking trails that are open to the public and regularly scheduled guided hikes year round.

Running Route

  • Tour de Greenbelt 2012 Running Route - 14k Route Map
    * This route will have closed lanes and will be fully marshaled.

Cycling Routes

ADDITIONAL INFO

  • Cyclists are required to wear helmets for the ride
  • Shuttle busses are available from MEC Toronto (pre-registration required)
  • Free parking is available
  • Prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers
  • Kids 12 and under are free (2 kids per registered adult)
